stolenmotorcycleregistry.com FAQ

I've been answering a lot of the same questions from people, so I thought I'd address them here:

Q: Can I register my motorcycle BEFORE it gets stolen?
A: No. Not yet. Right now I'd like to keep the focus on bikes that are known to be stolen. We're working on something like this for the future, but right now we're concentrating on stolen listings.

Q: Even though it's not a 'motorcycle' per se, can I register my moped/Vespa/minibike/ATV?
A: Yes. Go ahead and register.

Q: You're in Tucson. How does this help people in (INSERT CITY NAME HERE)?
A: This site is designed to cover all of the US. Listings are broken down by state, city, and zipcode, so the database doesn't really care if you're in New York or Alaska. Access is also made available via the web and text messaging, so it's possible to use my database anywhere in the nation.

Q: Do you have any relationship with law enforcement?
A: No - we have no relationship with law enforcement. They are welcome to use this site if they want to, but the SMR has no relationship whatsoever with any local or national law enforcement. This is why we reiterate again and again that registrants must report their stolen motorcycle to the proper authorities as well as registering it here.

Q: How do you intend to make money on this site?
A: I don't. Seriously. The web hosting is cheap, and it only takes about 5 minutes out of my day to check new signups and approve new listings, so it isn't like I'm going broke from this effort. I just want to help people recover their stolen motorcycles.

If you'd like to donate a few bucks and help defray the costs, however, that would be great. Just click the 'Buy Now' button here:

Q: I've got a great idea, why don't you (INSERT GREAT IDEA HERE)
A: I, too have some great ideas for this site. In fact, there are two major portions that aren't 'live' yet that I think will make people say 'Wow, that's a cool idea.' Right now I'm in the advertising and PR phase, so while I'm happy to hear your idea, the focus right now is on getting the word out.

But I'd also like to hear your idea.
